Abzurdah

Abzurdah is the writer Cielo Latini's autobiography. It tells us about her life, after being diagnosed with anorexia and bulimia. It also tells us about her “relationship” with a boy called Alejo, to whom  she met by Messenger. The story takes place here, in Buenos Aires. A summary of the story could be that she was in love with him, and he pretended that he was too. But he acted in such a way that made her feel so bad, that she came to think she wasn’t good enough for him, when it was the other way about. When she was recovering from anorexia and bulimia, some situations made her fall into self harm once again. 

The best thing about the book is the topic it broaches, because, even though it is a little bit harsh, they are things that happen in real life as there are a lot of people suffering from that kind of disorder. 

I absolutely recommend this book because Cielo Latini writes in such a way that invites you to continue reading.And also because it’s my favourite book: I love reading about anorexia, self-harm, and similar subjects.

I think that if the character had paid attention to her as she deserved it, maybe she would  have never been through all these painful situations.

Sports by Mariano

If I had to say which sports are the most important ones, those would be football, tennis, rugby, American football, basketball, volleyball, golf -which is very boring-, among others. Practising any of them is a really healthy habit for the body, and they'll help you if you are on a diet or training hard.

Doing sports makes you feel happy because the body segregates endorphins. So practising sports prevents you from feeling depressed. My favourite sports are football and tennis. Last year I trained tennis pretty hard and I won a tournament where twenty participants were competing. I felt really glad because I trained really long for that tournament. As for football, I have been training for about eight years and I played two years of ''FUTSAL''. I think that the person who invented this sport is a genius:  it's good for your body and also it is really thrilling!

Football was invented in England but it wasn't until 1930 that the first World Cup was organized. The winner at that time was Uruguay. Argentinian tennis has a lot of players, but the best players in its history were Guillermo Vilas and Gabriela Sabatini.

It is a story about four friends that make different tricks and get into troubles. There are many books that retell different adventures: in total there are twelve of them! The main characters are Paula, Graciela, Federico and Fabian. Also there is Miriam, a girl who always spies on them and tell the director the things that they do. They hate her and she hates them, they are always fighting.

I haven't read all the books but I read almost all of them and I loved the story. The plot really hooks you in and it is very funny. The chapters´ endings always leave you with intrigue and you want to read the next chapter. If you read them, you will love them, that's for sure.

My favourite one is about a trip. They go on a  school journey and when they arrive at the place they were heading for, they make a lot of jokes; they break the rules and go from bedroom to bedroom, despite being forbidden. Also Paula goes to the trip with her dog,which is very funny.

I recommend these books because they are very interesting and you'll have plenty of fun!

A romantic one

The Notebook is a romantic movie directed by Scott T. Ritenour which is about a poor young man who falls in love with a rich woman. The story takes place in Seabrook, South Carolina. The main characters are Noah (Ryan Gosling), Allie (Rachel McAdams), James Garner, Gena Rowlands, San Sheppard, James Marsden and Joan Allen.

Allie is a girl from a rich family who every summer stays in Seabrook and Noah is a boy of the town who works at the wood factory. One day Noah meets Allie at the carnival and since that day they spend together all the summer. But one day when the summer is finishing they have to face a big problem… can they stay together or not? In spite of  their doubts, the romance between them will be strong enough to survive.

The best thing about this movie is that you get really involved with it. I highly recommend watching it with your family or friends. If you do so, I´m sure you will love it!

Breaking Bad

Breaking Bad is an American TV series. Vince Gilligan is the director and the producer of this series. The stars are Bryan Cranston, who is Walter White; Aaron Paul, who acts as Jesse Pinkman; and Anna Gunn who is Walter´s wife, Skyler White. 

The plot is based on a high school chemistry teacher, who is diagnosed with cancer. He tries to meet again Jesse Pinkman, an ex student, to produce and sell crystallized methamphetamine. So they start to produce that in a caravan in the desert out of town. Although they make the same product there´s a difference between theirs and the other producers': their product is blue and they have the best methamphetamine ever cooked in that city. Despite doing all of this to secure his family´s financial future (a good purpose), at the end of the story he transforms himself into awful man.

I recommend Breaking Bad because it has potential and it´s the best TV series I´ve seen. But If the story had a different ending, I wouldn´t like it because it would not be fair. Anyway I love the plot and the end of the story. You must see it to know what I´m talking about.

Fast and Furious

Fast and Furious is an American saga that has 7 editions (the last one is going to be released in April). It’s about a group of drivers that get on well and start making plans to get rich. But after that in the fifth edition they start working for the FBI trying to catch important thieves.

The saga is directed by Rob Cohen and the main characters are Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker), Letty Ortiz (Michelle Rodriguez), Jesse (Chad Lindberg), Leon (Johnny Strong) and Mia Toretto (Jordana Brewster).

If I have to give an opinion I would say that the film is very interesting and enjoyable even if you don’t like this kind of films.

Unfortunately, in 2013 one of the main characters (Paul Walker) died and apparently the film director said that they are going to change him for a double in Fast and Furious 7. Im sure I will enjoy the film despite Paul Walker’s death.

GUALEGUAYCHU CARNIVAL: COLOR AND JOY

Gualeguaychú carnival is the most well-known carnival in Argentina. 

It is in Gualeguaychú, Entre Ríos. I went there twice and it is amazing, very colorful and loud. But, what can we say about this carnival?

The carnival started in a small town. They used to do it in the afternoon because then, there wasn´t too much light to do it. Now people from the whole country visit it every summer.

Ará Yeví, Kamarr, Marí-Marí, O’Bahía and Papelitos are the groups which participate in this 

carnival.

Every year, these groups dance to the beat of the music as all the people who visit them. 

The groups usually choose a topic to represent like death or happiness and they dance through a gangway showing what they have been doing the whole year. There are different places to sit, cheaper or more expensive depending on where they are If you pay the most expensive one you are literally next to the dancers and floats. 

In my experience, it was really amazing as I had the opportunity to be in that place!

Books: my universe

When I was young, I really hated reading books, I found them boring and without colors. Sometimes, I used to ask myself 'Why are books so interesting and attractive to some people?'. Now, that I ´m a bit older, they‘ve become my universe.

A friend I had, who really loved reading, once told me:” Why don’t you try reading something short at least? If you don’t try, you won’t know if you like it”. Those were the words that changed everything. At the beginning, it was hard for me to pay attention to a boring and common book. However, since I started reading Harry Potter novels, which were written by J.K.Rowling, my whole world have turned a bit magical too.

It seems to me that if I hadn´t read this novel, I would have lost all the magical moments that literature have brought me. To sum up, books are not only pieces of papers: they develop something that‘ll help you always: imagination. If you have the chance to pop into the incredible world of books, so then do it, because you will not regret it!

Friends

The series I am agoing to talk about is pretty famous. Who hasn't heard about Friends? It is about five American friends, who live in New York. It is a long TV series, which does not have a main problem, because in each chapter something different happens. The main characters are; Phoebe Buffay, Joey Tribbiani, Rachel Green, Chandler Bing, Monica and Ross Geller.

It is a comedy and also a love story. You can see that in the pilot, when Monica introduces Rachel to her friends -except for Ross (Monica's brother), who already knew her, because he was in love with her since high school. Also there are Chandler and Monica who, in the middle of the program start dating, and Joey and Phoebe that had had couples, but not within the same group of friends.

I really love this program, and at the end it is very sad, but anyway you can see how their lives have a nice ending, with husbands, wives and children -except for Joey, who finishes living in the same apartment, alone with no girlfriend. I mean he is happy, but he still is a 32-year-old man, with no career, or job, and it is kind of sad! Any way I love Friends, and I think you should watch it!

Sofía: talking about films

The perks of being a wallflower

This film is about a boy who is shy and introverted. After his best friend's death, he suffers from depression and also from being abused by his new "friends". Sam and Patric, who are people like him, help him to get some new relationships, girlfriends and also going out to parties. However, he is still suffering because of his past.

I think that if his friend hadn't died , he wouldn’t have suffered as he did. Now,why do I like the film? Because I think it’s a mixture between romance and adventure. Also I love the actors who play main characters because they coincide completely with their role in the film.

The main characters are Logan, Lerman, Emma Watson and Ezra Miller. The director is Stephen Chbosky. It was released in 2012 as a blockbuster and a lot of people loved it!

Finally, my opinion about this film is that it’s amazing. I recommend this film to teenagers because the characters go through the same situations as us nowadays.

The best series

Have you ever been so bored that you  know what to watch on TV? Well, here we’re going to talk about what series you should watch.

Let’s start with The Vampire Diaries which is one of the five-most-seen series in the United States, followed by The Walking Dead, American Horror Story and Breaking Bad. The Vampire Diaries is about two vampire brothers who fall in love with the same human girl!

If you like drama and crime series, I’m sure you will love Grey’s Anatomy, Bones or Bates Motel. If you like thriller series, though, you’ll like Zombie, Homeland or The Strain.

In my opinion, the best series that I’ve ever seen were The Vampire Diaries, Teen Wolf and The Originals. These are teenage series about supernatural beings. Teen Wolf is about a student whose life changes completely when he is bitten by a werewolf. And The Originals is about the first vampire family in The Vampire Diaries. If you watch one of these three series, you’ll never regret it!

Sherlock Holmes

In my personal opinion, I think that the detective story that was written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (named “Sherlock Holmes “) is one of the best crime stories that had been invented. In spite of loving the story, I‘ve never read any book starred by the famous Sherlock. However, the story has such an interesting plot that I cannot find it boring.

The books talk about the great Sherlock Holmes (as the titles says), a detective whose mind is so bright that it can solve any drawback that could come out.. Despite being the most intelligent mind of his age, he had always needed the help of Doctor John H. Watson, the partner who was with him in every difficult situation they went through.

Anyway, from my point of view, the fact that makes the story so interesting is not only the sophisticated plot but also the mysterious, fascinating and selfish mind of Mr. Holmes’. It is why the story makes me feel interested in every single thing he deduces, and why every follower of these amazing books call them the most fascinating crime story of all ages.

An inspector calls

The book tells the story of a British rich family who was supposed to be honest but as the story progresses they begin to lie and blame each other.

Although the story is short, it’s very interesting. The main characters are Arthur, Eric, Sheila, Sybil Birling and Gerald Croft. Arthurt is the man of the family, Sybil is his wife, Sheila is his daughter and Eric is his son. Also, Sheila is going to marry Gerald. The story takes place in Birling’s house.

The best moment is when an inspector arrives at Birling’s house and starts making questions about a girl that had committed suicide, in which they got involved. Despite the fact that they hadn’t killed her, the girl committed suicide because of their fault.

The best thing about the story is that they begin to blame each other when , actually, it was all of them’s fault. But I think that If I had been there, I would have done the same because it is very difficult to assume that someone committed suicide because of your fault.

I would recommend this book because it is really interesting and enjoyable.

The Five Orange Pips

The story is based on the murders of the Openshaw family. The story takes place in the UK. It started when Elias (John’s uncle) received an envelope with the letters “K.K.K” written at the front, which contained 5 orange pips. Three days later, he died. After that, Joseph (John’s dad), received the same envelope with the same 5 orange pips inside; though he knew he was going to be killed like his brother, he didn’t call the police. And as it was expected, three days later he died. Probably if he had asked for help, he wouldn’t have died. So now, the same envelope has been given to John, and he goes with Holmes to solve the mystery and keep him safe.

So, who is my favorite character? Absolutely Watson, because even though he doesn’t do much to solve the mysteries, he’s always paying attention to every move or thought that Holmes does or has, and at the end of the day, he writes about it in his diary, so we can also know what he is thinking about the case.

In spite of the fact I really like the story, some decisions that the characters made were so dumb, that I almost wanted to shout at their faces “Why did you do that?”, but then I remembered it was a story, and I calmed down. Despite that fact, I definitely recommend “The five orange pips”.

Eye for an Eye

The story is really exciting because it starts with the murder of the main character's daughter, but the story is not only about 'Who is the killer? ', because at the beginning you already know who he is, but justice cannot be done because the police do not have evidence. 

It is very interesting because you can see how the mother begins to get crazy and spy the killer. For example once this man told her that if she kept going to his house, he would rape her little daughter, but I think the worst situation is the little daughter’s one. Also she starts going to a group of people who have lost someone important to talk, and a partner wants to help her to kill the murderer, but she has to think on her little daughter too. That is how she makes a plan to enrage the killer so that he tried to kill her. If that happened, then she would be able to defend herself, because if she had killed him with no reason, she would have gone to prison. 

I would recommend this book because it Is really interesting and you also can watch the movie that is called as the story.

Sherlock

The story I´m going to write is about Sherlock, which is a British TV series .It has had three seasons. And it´s based on Arthur Conan Doyle’s books.

The plot is about a private detective called Sherlock Holmes who usually works alone., although all the mysteries that he solves have been written by John Watson, a retired military doctor who finally becomes Sherlock´s friend.

I really like the season in which Sherlock Holmes receives five ”pips” in a cell phone instead of the five orange pips that Conan Doyle described in his tale. But the chapter is not about social discrimination practised by the Ku Klux Klan. And it is not related to John Openshaw either: the chapter is about some enigmatic messages which Mr. Holmes receives. In the end of the chapter, Sherlock won the fight against an enemy called James Moriarty. If Sherlock hadn’t solved the mystery, a bomb would have exploded. 

By the way, I really like this series because I´m really impressed by Sherlock Holmes´ character, I think it´s hard to find such a good performance as the one Benedict Cumberbatch has had in Sherlock.
