The other face of having a "friend"

I used to have a friend who was called Malena. Now I wonder, was she a true friend?

There are some people that always say that true friends are the ones who are by your side at the good and bad moments and I think that you realize who they truly are when bad things happen, because they are the ones that are supposed to stand by your side.

She was a very good friend, sensitive, gracious, polite... but we lost touch when we finished primary school. I used to think that we would get in touch again but when I tried, another friend told me that she went to live to Spain and she was never getting back here again. Even though she was going to live far away, I was upset because she hadn't told me.

In my opinion we have to be very careful when we call someone a friend, sometimes they are just partners, co-workers or maybe sometimes they are just interested in meeting you and nothing else. Since that day, for me a friend is so much more than a “friend”. A true friend is the person who stands by your side every single day, that supports you when something happens, a person that is unconditional.
